Creedence Clearwater Revival was an American rock band formed by John Fogerty (guitar, vocals), Tom Fogerty (guitar), Stu Cook (bass) and Doug Clifford (drums), who, under other names, were playing together since 1959. They adopted the name Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1967, which released the first recordings in 1968. The name arose from the junction of the RAC name of a friend of Tom Fogerty called "Creedence Nubal" and a beer commercial "Clearwater." Since that year got gold with the album Creedence Clearwater Revival. Throughout his career, including singles and albums, won nine gold records and seven platinum albums. They separated in July 1972. John Fogerty was who had the most successful solo career. His brother Tom died on September 6, 1990. Recently, Doug Clifford and Stu Cook formed the generic Creedence Clearwater Revisited, and began touring the world, playing old hits of the original band.
