The first Congress of Theology, Faith and Society to be held on May 19-22, 2011 in the city of Tubarão Santa Catarina intend to redeem within the Brazilian church the importance of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit-filled life . We are aware that we live in a very important moment in church history and every day we celebrate the glory of God and guard the good deposit. We will be honored to have with us Dr. Russell Shedd, PhD, who will be working on various issues concerning the church and the leader in Brazil.
scholar Francis Schaeffer of the past, said the church needs Reformation, Revival and Revolution. Reform, refers to a restoration to pure doctrine, speaks of a return to the teachings of the Bible. Revival speaks of a life filled with the Holy Spirit. And Revolution, speaks of the impact of the Christian life in society as salt of the earth and light of the world.
He argues further that there can be no true revival unless there has been reform and reform is not complete without revival. "May we be those who know the reality of reform and revival, so this poor world can have a dark and shows a portion of the church will either returned to life as pure doctrine full of the Holy Spirit."
Our Congress of Theology, Society and Faith, believes that the church must be equipped with the Word of God and the life of the Spirit to face this dark world that is evil. The church must walk the path proposed by God in His Word and never deviate from it. So our Congress starts with the Theology which is nothing more than to be faithful to the Word and the teachings of God to his people throughout history.
Our Congress of Theology, Faith and Society, also believes that the Christian can not be alienated from the world she must live a righteous life in this world for the glory of God. So our congress passes by way of the Company. The church of Christ should influence society to be salt of the earth and light of the world, celebrate and live the gospel in this world. We are not exempt from society, rather we live in society and we must take God for this post-Christian society.
Our Congress of Theology, Faith and Society, also believes that we must have a sound theology and live the gospel of Christ in society, but we must have faith and deep conviction in the person of Jesus Christ blessed. Faith is the confidence and certainty that God wants to use his people to take his word for this world. Without faith it is impossible to please God. The church is the community of faith, because the just shall live Faith says the Bible.
So our Congress believes that these three words are the key to living a holy and righteous in this world by God's grace. Theology, Society and the triangle is incarnational faith that the church today must live and proclaim, because its mission is the mission of God that is shaped in his holy Word.
So we invite you to join our Congress in Tubarão, Santa Catarina, and walk together to rethink the church. Our guest is Dr. Russell Shedd, who has been a boon to the Brazilian church over the years.
